Sensitive Light
Leiciester Caribbean Carnival 2007

My aspiration is to photograph everything I see in a sensitive light

An introduction to Sensitive Light

This site is about photographs; its purpose is to showcase the work of one amateur photographer. If the pictures give pleasure then good, if they give encouragement or inspiration to other amateur photographers then so much the better.

What the photographer chooses to record, how it is recorded, processed and ultimately presented is an intensely personal process. Welcome to my world.

The picture above was taken at the Leicester Caribbean Carnival and is part of the latest gallery to be added to the site.

Below are some examples of the different types of photography that can be found in the various Sensitive Light galleries.

Coloured Smoke

Abstract photography - coloured smoke

Sensitive Light is widely acknowledged to be the first photography site to present pictures of coloured smoke. Coloured smoke photography is an abstract art form that has gained some popularity across the net. Smoke from an incense stick, brightly lit, and set against a black background is the starting point for this type of picture.

For more smoke pictures and a detailed master class on how to create smoke art see the coloured smoke gallery.

Bluebell woods

Landscape photography - bluebells

The end of April and early May is bluebell time in the UK. It is a wonderful season to go for a walk in the woods looking for more pictures to add to the gallery.

For more bluebell pictures go to the bluebell gallery.

hoverfly
Hoverfly

Macro photography - hoverflies

Later in the year around August and September is the time when hoverflies become commonplace. Unfortunately the weather in 2006 and 2007 has meant that they are not as numerous as normal, but the search goes on for a better hoverfly picture.

For more hoverflies, including hoverflies in flight, visit the hoverfly gallery.

Nature photography - birds

Many a happy hour has been spent in the local bird hide waiting for the patrons to sit still long enough to be photographed.

There are more bird photographs in the bird gallery.

Portrait photography - pictures of people

Celebrating humanity by photographing people is my first love.
