This baby robin (Erithacus rubecula) spent much of it's formative life in my back garden at a time when I was spending at least an hour a day and often longer in a self built bird hide.

Very young birds are a delight to photograph for two reasons, firstly they don't move around as much or as fast as mature birds thus giving the photographer a better chance of composing a decent shot, and secondly because the plumage of young birds is usually in excellent condition.

Photographing garden birds is a good first step towards photographing birds in the wild.
