Coot hatchlings

Picture too big or too small, check out the page size options at the top right of the page. Just set it once and forget it.
For six weeks from late August to early October I followed the progress of four coot hatchlings. Unfortunately only one made it to October despite the heroic dedication to defending, feeding and nurturing exhibited by the parents.

The photographs were taken at the lake in Coombe Country Park in Warwickshire.

The sage like appearance and the constant antics of the coot chicks kept me entertained for hours.
