There is a small densely wooded island in the lake at Coombe Country Park where swans gather. If it is not called Swan Island it should be. It is a private place where the swans can relax away from park visitors who like nothing better than to hurl slices of bread at them.
Its a place to sleep and preen and lay eggs. It gives me the impression of being a feminine place although I am sure cobs as well as pens spend time there.
On the opposite bank I sit on my little stool, camera and long lens mounted on a tripod in front of me, watching through the trees for those moments of grace. And occasionally I am privileged to record one.
